From Aparcar to mot:
From municipality to region: a new chapter for the public mobility app.

A new identity
Since September 2024, the mobility app Aparcar, created by the City Council of Reus, has entered a new phase under the name mot:, now managed by the Provincial Council of Tarragona.
This change of name and image is more than a simple rebranding: it marks the start of a project with a territorial approach, aiming to make this public mobility app available to all municipalities in Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l’Ebre, and Baix Penedès that request it.

A success story born in Reus
Created in 2016 by the Reus City Council, the Aparcar app initially served this municipality. Over time, it has expanded to other municipalities in the region such as Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils, Valls, Vila-seca, and Montblanc, and even to towns outside the region, such as Girona. The success of this technological tool, promoted and developed by a local public administration, has led it to go beyond municipal boundaries and adopt a more territorial and metropolitan perspective.

A mobility solution
Now managed by the Autonomous Body BASE – Revenue Management of the Tarragona Provincial Council, the focus is on:
- Improving the user experience by making the app more intuitive and accessible.
- Standardising protocols to enable better data integration and connectivity.
- Adding new mobility-related features or integrations with other public services.
- Opening the door to new municipalities by expanding territorial coverage to reach more people.
